The Liturgy of the Hours
יב לֵב טָהוֹר, בְּרָא-לִי אֱלֹהִים; וְרוּחַ נָכוֹן, חַדֵּשׁ בְּקִרְבִּי.

The Liturgy of the Hours - sometimes called The Office or the Breviary
- is an official liturgical and public form of prayer of the Church. Its foundations are ancient; it is clear from the scriptural record that Jesus often prayed using the Psalms of David as inspiration. These 150 Psalms from the Hebrew Scriptures form the backbone of the prayer of monks, consecrated, priests, and lay people who wish to pray in a public form (usually in a church or oratory) using hymns and the sacred texts of the Holy Bible.
