The Liturgy of the Hours
יב לֵב טָהוֹר, בְּרָא-לִי אֱלֹהִים; וְרוּחַ נָכוֹן, חַדֵּשׁ בְּקִרְבִּי.
Create me a clean heart, O God;
and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Ps 51)
The Liturgy of the Hours - sometimes called The Office or the Breviary
- is an official liturgical and public form of prayer of the Church. Its foundations are ancient; it is clear from the scriptural record that Jesus often prayed using the Psalms of David as inspiration. These 150 Psalms from the Hebrew Scriptures form the backbone of the prayer of monks, consecrated, priests, and lay people who wish to pray in a public form (usually in a church or oratory) using hymns and the sacred texts of the Holy Bible.
If you are interested in joining us for this prayer, join us! Just show up at the Eucharistic Chapel and regular participants will gladly assist you in learning how to pray this ancient and beautiful prayer. Contact Andrea Duda for more information. Prayer begins just after the evening 5:15pm Mass.
