THE LITURGY OF THE HOURS

The Liturgy of the Hours - sometimes called The Office or the Breviary - is an official public form of prayer of the Church.  Its foundations are ancient; it is clear that Jesus often prayed using the Psalms of David as inspiration, and these 150 Psalms form the backbone of the prayer of monks, nuns, priests, and lay people who wish to pray in a public form (usually in a church or oratory) using hymns and the sacred texts of the Holy Bible.  At St. Mark's, Evening Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours is celebrated just after daily Mass at 6:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  If you are interested in joining us for this prayer, just show up at the Eucharistic Chapel and regular participants will gladly assist you in learning how to pray this ancient and beautiful prayer or contact Andrea Duda for more information.
