St. Marks University Parish

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! We are here to assist you in the planning of this very special and holy day. If you are a UCSB student or St. Mark's alumni, please know that you are most welcome to celebrate your Catholic wedding here at St. Mark's Univerisity Parish. If you are registered in another parish, you are welcome to celebrate your wedding here with proper permissions received from your home parish pastor. Because we are a Roman Catholic parish, at least one of the parties must be practicing Catholic. Outside Catholic Clergy are most welcome to come to St. Mark's to celebrate your wedding, but visiting clergy must speak directly to pastor to gain proper permission and delegation. Prior to the wedding date, Catholic parties must have received the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation.) If you have not received these sacraments, please notify the pastor at your first appointment. Please contact Fr. John Love at least 6 months prior to your proposed wedding date.

PLEASE DO NOT SET A WEDDING DATE OR PLACE A DEPOSIT ON A RECEPTION VENUE PRIOR TO SPEAKING WITH PASTOR.

If possible, please bring the following documents to your first meeting:

Birth Certificate (a clear photocopy is acceptable)
Recent Copy of your Baptism Certificate (Must have parish seal or stamp. Please call or write your parish of baptism to request a new document)
Any other documents relating to any prior wedding ceremonies (state wedding licenses, divorce decrees, church annulment documents, etc.)
